Asylum seekers and refugees
Coventry takes in some of the highest numbers of refugees in the country, and has long been known as a city that welcomes everyone, and promotes peace and reconciliation. Our Fresh Start programme works in partnership with other organisations to run classes and social events for asylum seekers and refugees. Our projects encourage them to make friends and develop skills which will help them find work. For example, the Proof Bakery, which employs refugee women to bake artisan bread .

Arabian Bites
We support and have given funding to Arabian Bites, a social enterprise that centres around a vegan café, staffed entirely by refugees. The project is described as promoting 'integration, community cohesion, understanding and tolerance', and supports newly arrived refugees in learning new skills. All proceeds are fed back into the project to help new arrivals get settled and begin integrating into society.
