Social Enterprises
TFC supports some incredible social enterprises, which aim to make the world a better place by tackling key social issues.
Proof Bakery
TFC provided a grant of £2,500 to the Proof Bakery at St. Catherine’s, Stoke Aldermoor. The bakery was supported by churches in Coventry and trained and employed refugees through artisan baking. The churches acted as tasting and collection points for bread deliveries. Proof were a not-for-profit social enterprise, who aimed to serve the community with really good bread and create fulfilling jobs for refugees. They were passionate about building a business that provides a sense of dignity, purpose and belonging for its bakers.
Rising Cafe
Together for Change fundraised and project managed the installation of the Rising Café in Coventry Cathedral. We were helped by a generous grant of £20,000 from the Bishop’s Mission Fund. The coffee shop was a social enterprise which supported and enabled rehabilitation, and was run by Betel of Britain, a national charity which works to rehabilitate adults who are affected by drug and alcohol addiction and homelessness.
Saints Nuneaton
In our brand new project in Nuneaton we aim to improve employability and increase aspirations. One of the ways in which we do this is through the Enterprise Zone, where budding creative business owners can hire out space at a largely reduced rate to use as a place to launch a brand new business. It is hoped that this area will be a germination space, and that the businesses we house will eventually outgrow it. TFC have also fundraised to provide a bursary that covers the rent for a selling space for one year, to enable an individual to start up with little to no costs involved.
