Food Parcels in Partnership with Your Farmer Meals

One of the newest projects which has been developed at Saints this past year has been a food hamper distribution project, aimed at supporting families and individuals pushed into food crisis because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

This began with giving out free frozen meal hampers during their Summer Staycation events to anyone who wanted one.

The project escalated rapidly during October Half-Term, when the local council asked Saints to offer food hampers to any families who would normally receive free school meal vouchers. With the council's funding and support, Saints responded quickly, advertised the opportunity and developed a system of effectively packing and distributing frozen food hampers to anyone fitting the free school meals criteria who wanted one.

The hampers are made up of frozen main and side dishes made by the Your Farmer company, who use sustainable and organic farming practices to farm wonderful produce, and then prepare and package healthy frozen meals.

Saints is now regularly running frozen meal hamper giveaways for those who have been most adversely affected by the pandemic, and is looking into further partnership with schools.

A Space for Support

With support groups of up to 15 people allowed to go ahead under government guidance, we opened up our space to host a group for care leavers run by Warwickshire County Council.

We have also secured funding for a counselling group for NHS workers from the George Elliot Hospital Covid wards. We have been able to provide a safe space for those workers to share their experiences and feelings, and receive support from a professional counsellor.
